The Stunning
The Stunning has been an in demand band in Ireland since their formation in 1987. They have developed a loyal fan base due to their unique ability to weave rock, pop, and traditional Irish sounds, and their high energy live shows. Their music is a fusion of rock, pop, and traditional Irish sounds. They have released several albums and have had scads of hits in Ireland with “Brewing Up a Storm,” “Heads Are Gonna Roll,” and “Half Past Two.”
The Stunning are well-known for a high energy live performance and have been named one of the best live bands in Ireland. The band was formed in 1987 in Galway and consists of four members: Steve Wall (vocals and guitar), Joe Wall (bass and vocals), Cormac Dunne (drums), and Jim Higgins (keyboards).
The band’s debut album, “Paradise in the Picturehouse,” released in 1990 rocketed to critical acclaim in Ireland. It was followed by several more albums that were absolute nuggets. The Stunning’s hit songs, such as “Brewing Up a Storm” and “Heads Are Gonna Roll,” have become staples of Irish radio and are often played at live events. In fact during the the late 1980’s the Pasadena-based underground rock station KROQ played The Stunning on frequent rotation along side bands from the likes of The English Beat and The Cure.
In fact, The Stunning have had huge success in Ireland and continue to perform and have released new music as recently as 2018 with their album “Twice Around The World”. They added young female singer Danielle Harrison to the track “Always You’ where her voice blends so well with The Stunning sound. So with so much early success in their home country and the U.S. and their ability to generate fresh music, then why are they not international stars today? People want to know what happened to The Stunning?!!
