Christy Moore!

Well-known Irish folk singer, songwriter, and guitarist Christy Moore has been entertaining audiences for more than five decades. He was born on May 7, 1945, in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland, and began his music career in the 1960s as a member of several bands, including Planxty and Moving Hearts.

Moore is known for his distinctive voice and his ability to connect with his audience through his lyrics and storytelling. He has released numerous albums over the years, including “Ride On,” “The Iron Behind the Velvet,” and “This Is the Day.” Some of his most popular songs include “Black is the Colour,” “Ordinary Man,” and “The Voyage.”

My wife and I saw him live at the Button Factory venue in Dublin a few years ago and the guy was amazing! He still had that immediately recognizable voice, familiar song list and on occasion would interrupt a song with a story related to how the song came about before continuing on. It’s a great experience!
