Guinness Factory Tour Dublin
The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland, offers a tour of its famous brewery. The tour takes visitors through the seven-story building, which is shaped like a pint glass and houses exhibitions on the history of Guinness, the brewing process, and the company’s genius advertising campaigns over the decades. Some of these classic Guinness advertising posters are available for purchase in the store. Guinness originated on this four-acre brewery site in the heart of Dublin city. Here you can trace its development from these humble beginnings into what was, at one point, the biggest brewery in the world.
History
Arthur Guinness was born in 1725 near Celbridge, County Kildare. His father, Richard Guinness, was land steward for the Rev. Dr Arthur Price, Archbishop of Cashel. The supervision of the brewing of beer for workers on the estate was part of his father’s duties and this is believed where Arthur was first introduced to the art of brewing. Arthur chose the capital city of Dublin, signing the now-legendary lease for a former brewery at St. James’s Gate.
