Andrea Corr
Andrea Coor was born on May 17, 1974 in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. Andrea’s parents Gerry Corr and Jean Corr were musicians who strongly encouraged each of their children to pursue music. And so I guess this proves why they say it’s important that kids to listen to their parents. This family of four has certainly proven the value! And the family is not without tragedy as Andrea’s older brother Gerard was tragically killed in a road accident when he was just three years of age before she and her sister Caroline were born.
The Corr band members and their role in the band include…
Andrea – lead vocals, piano
Sharon – violin, piano, vocals
Caroline – drums, piano, vocals
Jim – guitar, piano, vocals
Her sibling’s band started when Jim and Sharon began playing locally as a duo. The Corrs first performed as a band when they auditioned to play in the musical film The Commitments (1991), which coincidentally tells the story of a struggling Irish band. Andrea landed a speaking role in the film. The movie’s musical director John Hughes saw potential in the band and became their manager.

Three years later, the US Ambassador to Ireland, Jean Kennedy Smith, caught their well-honed act and invited them to perform at the World Cup in the States. The Corrs were finally in the right place at the right time, winning US fans and signing with Atlantic Records.
Their international debut album, Forgiven, Not Forgotten, combined pop music with traditional Irish stylings and sold over three million copies. Talk On Corners, The Corrs’ second release became the UK’s top-selling album of the year.
In 1994 The Corrs landed a recording contract with producer David Foster of Atlantic Records (USA). Their debut album was “Forgiven, Not Forgotten” (1995), followed by “Talk on Corners” (1997), “In Blue” (2000) and “Borrowed Heaven” (2004). To date they have sold some 40 million albums worldwide since their start in 1995. The Corrs have performed on tour with bands like U2, Celine Dion, and the Rolling Stones.
Andrea stands at a petite 5’1″ tall and admits both talent and beauty got her to this place and acknowledges that there are some who resist their catchy and sometimes moody melodies. But Andrea says criticisms of the band never bothered her. She says that The Coors had so much success and to this day have millions of fans worldwide who pay to watch the band live in concert.
