Alison Doody the Bond Girl
The striking blonde, Alison Doody is an Irish actress and model. She was born on November 11, 1966, in Dublin, Ireland. She grew up in Dublin with her parents Patrick Doody and Joan Doody and is the youngest of their three children. Her father was involved in real estate and farming.
Doody gained international recognition for her role as Elsa Schneider in the film “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989), where she starred alongside Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Her portrayal of the seductive and treacherous character earned her praise and established her as a prominent actress.
Alison’s eye-catching looks and talent has made her a respected figure in both the film and fashion industries. Regarding her early modeling career including covers in Harpers & Queen Magazines, Alison had this to say “They said I was too small to model. I’m 5 foot 8 1/2. I think they were trying to get rid of me”. She’s also been featured in television ads for brands like Revlon and Clairol.
It’s curious to know why and hasn’t been explained fully but Alison turned down dream roles that went to Nicole Kidman in Days of Thunder (1990) and Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct (1992). Later, she also said no to a part in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Prior to her breakthrough role in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” the fetching actress had already appeared in several films, including “A View to a Kill” (1985), where she played the role of Jenny Flex, a Bond girl opposite Roger Moore’s James Bond. She also appeared in “Taffin” (1988) and “Major League II” (1994), among others.
After taking a break from acting for several years, Doody returned to the screen in the early 2000s, appearing in films such as “The Actors” (2003) and “The Riddle” (2007). She has also appeared in television shows, including “Waking the Dead” and “The Clinic.”
