The Baby Guinness

Show them some creative chutzpah when hosting your St. Patrick’s Day party by showing them what looks exactly like a junior-sized Guinness! Let me explain…a Baby Guinness is a “shooter” or small alcoholic drink poured to look just like the Guinness Stout you’d get in a pub. By carefully combining a coffee liqueur and an Irish cream, you too can recreate that iconic look of a Guinness’ dark body and creamy head.

Ok so what is a Baby Guinness cocktail you might ask?

A Baby Guinness is simply a shot that approximates the look of a mini-pint of Guinness. It’s made of only two ingredients: coffee-flavored liqueur which helps imitate the dark stout beer and Irish Cream which is the stand-in for the foamy top.

It’s a great after-dinner tipple but also fun as a party starter shooter. Due to its Irish heritage, it’s often part of St.Patrick’s Day celebrations the world over.

Ingredients

• 2 fluid ounces coffee flavored liqueur
• ½ fluid ounce of Bailey’s Irish cream liqueur

Steps

  1. Fill a shot glass almost to the top with coffee liqueur.
  2. Take the back of a spoon and pour the Irish cream liqueur over it. It will float on top, making the shot’s ”head.”

Serve it up!

The Baby Guinness demands to be the center of attention and you’ll want to put some thought into presentation. We’d recommend a round tray like a traditional bar or use a large dinner plate – this is gonna set the vibe for your entire party. Enjoy the “black stuff” on St. Patrick’s Day or any time of year. Slàinte!
