Perrier Natural Sparkling Mineral Water
It’s time for a water break! I think we’re all familiar with the worldwide brand, Perrier which is a natural sparkling mineral water, enjoyed in more than 140 countries, and over 5 continents. The formula came about as a natural result of a series of several volcanic eruptions, mixing together rainwater and volcanic gas in the south of France. Perrier became the Earth’s original soft drink.
The Perrier bottled mineral water brand is known for its naturally occurring carbonation packaged in a stylistic green glass bottle. The water is sourced from the Vergèze spring located in the Gard département of France. To break it down, Perrier is characterized by its effervescence, which is a result of the natural carbonation that occurs underground as the water comes into contact with volcanic gas. That’s correct…volcanic gasses!
Today, Perrier Natural Sparkling Mineral Water is positioned as an alternative to carbonated soft drinks being that it is 100% natural and has zero calories. Unlike its competition, Perrier mineral water is unique in that the water has bigger bubbles due to its very low carbonate and sodium content.
History
The Perrier brand has been around since the late 19th century and originally gained popularity for its sparkling mineral water. Over the years though, Perrier has expanded its products to include various flavored sparkling waters, often with natural fruit essences added for taste. So its a popular choice for those looking for a refreshing and carbonated alternative to still or flat water.
Perrier has become an iconic brand in the beverage industry, and its distinctive green bottles are immediately recognizable. Its often enjoyed on its own or used as a mixer in cocktails. Additionally, Perrier has positioned itself as a premium water brand, and its products are available in many countries around the world.
Here’s to your health
Can Perrier be used as a health tonic? We mentioned earlier that because it hasn’t any calories, Perrier is a good way to avoid the pitfalls of sugary sodas. You might ask yourself can sparkling water be good for your stomach? It has been reported by the University of Chicago Medical Center that “carbonated water improves digestion and helps constipation, so that empties the stomach and could possibly make someone feel hungry.”
And of course, if you are experiencing gas after a big meal, then the carbonation in Perrier sparkling water encourages you to burp, providing a sense of relief from the bloating and pressure caused by gas buildup. We think Perrier works best in these situations but you can try others on the market like Italy’s own, San Pellegrino. For us it came down to the bubble size. Perrier bubbles are larger and seemed to be more effective than San Pellegrino’s.
Cocktails anyone?
Perrier packs plenty of daring on its own, but the crisp carbonation makes it the perfect partner for mixing your own cocktails or mocktails. You can use Perrier as a carbonated mixer for your Wine Spritzer, Mojitos or even an Old Fashioned. It also pairs well in between sips of red wine.
So Perrier turns out to be a versatile classic. And much like Perrier, these time honored phrases preceding a tipple never get old “santé”, “tchin tchin!” and “cheers!”
